As we captured the final shots of the evening, I noticed a young man waiting nearby—clearly wanting to ask me something.
He was visiting from Montreal, scouting the perfect location to propose to his girlfriend later that week. Standing beneath the majestic live oaks with the romantic and iconic gazebo as our backdrop, it was easy to understand why he'd chosen this spot. We spoke briefly, and that evening I followed up to begin planning every detail of his surprise proposal.

Capturing a Surprise Proposal Without Interrupting the Magic
One of my superpowers as a Charleston proposal photographer is blending into the scene, ensuring I capture every meaningful second without disrupting your special moment. Once, during a proposal at this very location, a large bachelorette party had stopped right where my client was about to propose. As he was less than a minute away, panic didn’t set in. I politely told them what was about to happen and offered to take their group photo afterward. They were more than happy to move and ended up cheering for the couple! I even captured a few joyful shots of them too – a truly Charleston moment!
